This course is a graduate-level course on the principles ofnetwork and service management (NSM) systems. The primary objective is forstudents to learn the construction of large-scale, distributed, automatedsoftware systems that configure, monitor, operate, and control large networksincluding cloud computing infrastructures. We will define the problem, investigate the scope, and examine fundamental principles. We will studyexisting tools, platforms, paradigms, and seek abstractions that can be used tobuild efficient management and control systems.
Prerequisites: A course in probability; 18-756 and senior or graduate standing.
