On Saturday, September 28th, CMKL University opened its doors to give prospective students, families, and friends a firsthand experience of what life here is really like. Here are some highlights and glimpses from the event:

🔍 Discovering AiCE Programs and the A1CE Platform

Our open house went beyond the usual info sessions—participants didn’t just sit and listen; they explored and engaged. Visitors wandered through our AiCE (Artificial Intelligence in Computer Engineering) programs, listened to lively panel discussions, and chatted with students and faculty members. The Student Council was also present, sharing information about extracurricular activities and giving future students a sense of what CMKL is like beyond the classroom.

Parents and students got to learn more about our unique learning approach—competency-based learning, where students can progress at their own pace and have control over their education. We also introduced the XP Program, which offers students opportunities for research, industrial internships, and international exchanges. Attendees got a glimpse of our very own school platform, A1CE, which enables students to shape their learning paths and create personalized roadmaps based on their future goals.

🚀 Undergraduate Projects

One of the most exciting parts of the day was the R&D booths, where our undergraduate students proudly presented their projects. Visitors didn’t just watch; they touched, tried, and explored the products themselves. There was Canerie, which uses AI to gamify learning, and PathSense, a solution to help the visually impaired navigate better. And that’s just scratching the surface. It was amazing to see so many different fields represented, and even more incredible to watch people’s reactions as they interacted with the projects. For our students, it was a chance for them to get real feedback, learn from it, and feel the thrill of seeing their ideas come to life.

🎓 Graduate Programs and Research

Throughout the day, prospective graduate students explored advanced studies at CMKL and the programs we offer, such as ECE, TCI, and AiCE. The Graduate Project Showcase on the 6th floor was filled with activity as students presented their research and chatted with visitors. We also held info sessions about our graduate programs, including the unique opportunity to spend a year in Pittsburgh through our ECE program in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University. And the best part? Our partnerships with companies like ThaiBev and Bangkok Bank give students the chance to work on real-world research—it's not just about theory here.

💡 AI Innovator Award

The AI Innovator Award Pitch Competition was another can’t-miss moment. The passion in the room was contagious as students pitched their big ideas. It was nothing short of inspiring to watch. While it was a competition in the literal sense, it was also a reminder that great ideas can come from anywhere, and sometimes all it takes is the courage to share them.

🛰️ Our Supercomputer

The guided tours offered a peek into our in-house supercomputer, APEX, the only supercomputer in Thailand, and what it can do, with plenty of Q&A sessions to satisfy everyone's curiosity. Parents and students alike got to learn about the supercomputer's capabilities and its role in AI research at CMKL, which helps students carry out AI projects that would otherwise be constrained by the need for high computing power.

Didn’t Make It? We’re Still Here
