Program Overview

The Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence & Computer Engineering (AiCE) program at CMKL equips students with the expertise to pursue new frontiers in AI, Computer Engineering, and Innovation. The Ph.D. in AiCE program lasts five years (10 full-time semesters). The maximum period allowed to complete the Ph.D. degree requirements is six years, beginning with the successful completion of the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination. The PH.D. in AI and Computer Engineering required students to satisfy multiple requirements before the doctoral degree was certified.
Through artificial intelligence, computer engineering and an entrepreneurial perspective, AiCE graduates can assist our society in tackling challenges that will propel the future development of Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Online Application

To apply to a CMKL program, please submit your application through the official CMKL online application portal. The portal is designed to streamline the application process, allowing you to complete all required forms and upload supporting documents conveniently in one place.

Please note that a non-refundable application fee of 2,500 THB is required as part of the submission process. This fee covers administrative costs associated with reviewing your application.

Transcript

Applicants must submit official transcripts from all universities attended. Enrolling students are also required to provide an Educational Qualification Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education.

If a school counselor or institution needs to submit official documents via email, please have them sent directly to admissions@cmkl.ac.th.

Test Scores

Applicants are required to submit proof of English proficiency through one of the following tests:
- Duolingo English Test (DET): A recommended score of 105 or above
- TOEFL iBT: A recommended score of 70 or above (University ETS Code: C532)
- IELTS: A recommended score of 6.0 or above

Applicants who have attended a school in a country where English is the primary language of instruction and is used by the government may be eligible for an English proficiency requirement waiver.

Applicants may submit additional materials to strengthen their application. While all supplemental materials are optional, they can help highlight your qualifications, achievements, and interests.
These materials may include:

- Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Portfolio or Pitch Deck
- Letter of Recommendation
- Additional test scores, such as SAT (CMKL SAT CEEB Code: 7791), ACT, IB, IGCSE, TGAT/TPAT, A-Level, Gaokao, GRE, or other standardized examinations
- Personal links (e.g., personal website, GitHub, LinkedIn, or online portfolios)

Submission of these materials is optional and will be considered as part of a holistic application review.

Statement of Purpose

All applicants are required to submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) of 250–1,000 words as part of the application process. The SOP should address the applicant’s objectives and reasons for applying, relevant academic or professional background, and any additional information such as projects or research experience.

Video Interview

All candidates are required to submit a video interview. You may either provide a URL link to your video or upload the video directly through the system.This video gives the admissions committee an opportunity to get to know you better and to understand your communication skills.Please note that the video interview must be conducted in English

Recommendation (Optional)

Recommendation letters are written endorsements from individuals who can attest to an applicant’s qualifications, skills, character, and potential for success in an academic or professional setting. These letters are typically provided by teachers, employers, or mentors who are familiar with the applicant.

Applicants are required to submit a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of three (3) recommendation letters. Recommendation letters may be uploaded through the CMKL application portal under the Optional Materials section in Recommendation Letter. Recommendation letters should be dated no more than two years prior to the application date.

If a hard copy of a recommendation letter is available, it may be sent to admissions@cmkl.ac.th for upload to the application portal.

Resume/CV/Portfolio (Optional)

Resumes, CVs, and portfolios serve different purposes: a resume provides a concise overview of professional experience and skills, a CV presents a detailed academic and professional history, and a portfolio showcases selected work samples that demonstrate abilities in a specific field.Applicants may submit any of these materials in any format. Submission is optional.

Computer Science Proficiency (Optional)

Applicants may submit the following credentials to further demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and preparation in computer science or related fields:

Awarding of Transfer Credits

Students who have earned appropriate scores on the  Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or A-Level, or college examination are often awarded credit by CMKL. Courses taken throughout high school at an approved college or university may also be recognized for credit.
