AI Engineering Institute held “AIEI X Lotus’ Hackathon 2022” sponsored by Lotus’s in hopes to inspire, challenge and educate participants in the Hackathon event, grouped up students from different universities to collaborate and offer winners prizes from Lotus’s. The event was held at the HM building, KMITL, two-day agenda (29-30 October 2022) filled with competitions and activities to challenge our participants to bring out their innovativeness and skills. We included notable mentors to share their experiences and offer valuable insights to our participants.
With a warm welcome from Dr. Akkarit Sangpetch, our AIEI director, the Hackathon kicked off with a splash! Ms. Atiporn Jaroensri, Executive Director, Technology, Ek-Chai Distribution System Co., Ltd., shared valuable insights with participants on how Lotus’s has implemented AI technology into their daily maintenance. AI technologies are used as a tool to facilitate business and retain customers with better services. On the other hand, Mr. Wiphak Trakanrungsi, Head of Software Development & Innovation, another important guest speaker, introduced the Hackathon event to the participants; relevant to real-world issues and how to create the best solutions to apply to real-world problems. Mr. PanaEk Warawit, a representative from Lotus’s also offered a talk session to emphasize the business impact and visualization on real cases to demonstrate the relevance of AI technology to the current business world.
After the session with our panel of experts, interesting and fun ice-breaking games were introduced to foster camaraderie among participants. Participants were split into 8 teams, 5-6 people per team, each team consisting of participants from 5 different universities, to work together on the topic of Customer Life Stage to Create a “Personalization Shopping Experience”, along with supervision from Lotus’s mentors. Finally, wrapped up the first day with a consultation session for each group to present their ideas to specialists and a panel of experts to give advice and suggestions on their project to adjust accordingly.
The morning of the second day started off with the continuation of yesterday's group project, participants adjusted their project according to the advice received. In the afternoon, participants finally presented their final project to a panel of experts. The winners were announced after each team finished their presentation in which Lotus’s gave the top 3 winning teams the Lotus’s gift card.
“AIEI X Lotus’s Hackathon” had been a memorable event that will better prepare our participants for future real-world problems. Participants had formed valuable friendships and connections with each other. They were inspired and motivated to further explore AI technology through our activities and received valuable advice through our mentorships. It had been a valuable journey that would remain with participants throughout their future years.
