About CMKL Enterprise

CMKL Enterprise is the venture-building and AI consulting arm of CMKL University — a Carnegie Mellon–KMITL joint institution at the forefront of AI research and engineering in Southeast Asia. We translate frontier research from CMKL and AI Engineering Institute (AIEI) into commercial outcomes: spinning out deep-tech ventures, delivering AI consulting engagements to enterprise and government clients, and building the bridge between academic capability and industry demand across Thailand and ASEAN.

The Role

We’re looking for a Business Development Lead to drive top-of-funnel growth across two distinct but connected motions: enterprise AI consulting engagements and venture co-creation with corporate and government partners. You’ll be the person who turns CMKL’s research credibility and AIEI’s national-scale initiatives into a pipeline of paying clients, design partners, and strategic alliances.

This is a builder’s role. You’ll work directly with faculty, research leads, and venture studio operators to package capabilities into offerings the market understands and is willing to pay for.

What You’ll Do

- Build and own the BD pipeline for AI consulting engagements — sovereign AI, applied ML, GPU infrastructure, vertical AI solutions in healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and public sector.

- Identify and qualify venture co-creation opportunities with Thai conglomerates, regional enterprises, and government agencies; structure deals that align corporate capital with CMKL’s technical depth.

- Translate research and infrastructure capabilities (ThaiLLM, federated medical AI, physical AI/robotics, sovereign compute) into commercial offerings with clear value propositions and pricing.

- Run the full deal cycle: prospecting, discovery, scoping, proposal, negotiation, and handoff to delivery teams.

- Develop strategic relationships with C-suite and innovation leaders at target accounts across Thailand and ASEAN.

- Represent CMKL Enterprise at industry events, government forums, and partner roundtables.

- Work closely with AIEI, faculty PIs, and the venture studio to ensure pipeline matches institutional capacity and strategic direction.

What We’re Looking For

- 6+ years in business development, enterprise sales, consulting, or venture building — ideally with exposure to AI, deep tech, or technical services.

- Strong track record closing six- and seven-figure deals with enterprise or government clients in Thailand or the region.

- Comfort operating at the intersection of technical depth and commercial framing — you can hold a serious conversation about AI capabilities without overpromising.

- Existing network among Thai corporate leadership, government innovation offices, or regional VCs is a major plus.

- Fluent English and Thai.

- Entrepreneurial instincts, high agency, and tolerance for ambiguity — this is a building role, not a managing role.

Nice to Have

- Background in management consulting, venture studios, or corporate venture capital.

- Experience selling technical services (ML, data, cloud, infrastructure) into regulated industries.

- Familiarity with Thailand’s AI policy landscape and national digital initiatives.
