The Director of Finance & Human Resources is a senior executive responsible for strategic financial leadership and high-level HR oversight. This role ensures the university’s financial health while building a strong organizational culture and HR framework that supports growth, talent development, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related fields.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in finance and HR roles, ideally in higher education, large organizations, or multi-campus institutions.
  • Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, auditing, and strategic planning.
  • Strong track record in human resources leadership, including policy development, performance management, talent acquisition, and organizational development.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and overseeing multiple departments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial systems, HRIS platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, prepare executive reports, and provide actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of local and international financial regulations, labor laws, and best practices.
  • Experience working in international or cross-cultural environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with CMKL’s long-term goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for all university departments.
  • Monitor and report financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory regulations, and internal controls.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, procurement, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Lead financial audits, liaise with external auditors, and ensure transparent reporting.
  • Advise executive leadership on strategic financial decisions, investments, and resource allocation.

Human Resources Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that support the university’s mission and culture.
  • Lead talent acquisition, recruitment planning, and onboarding processes.
  • Manage employee performance evaluation systems, succession planning, and career development programs.
  • Oversee employee engagement, retention, and recognition initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, benefits administration, and HR reporting requirements.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and leadership on employee relations and organizational development.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.

Operational & Cross-Functional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior management to align finance and HR strategies with institutional goals.
  • Manage cross-departmental projects involving financial planning, HR initiatives, and organizational change.
  • Support policy development, operational improvements, and risk management.
  • Oversee implementation of HR and finance systems, processes, and reporting tools.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the President and executive team on all finance and HR matters.
