
A distinguished electrical engineer at Carnegie Mellon University, Prof. Moura holds the Philip L. and Marsha Dowd University Professorship and earned his DSc and master's degrees from MIT, along with an engineering degree from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. His research spans signal processing, deep learning, and graph signal processing, supported by numerous patents and high-impact publications. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, a former IEEE President and CEO (2019), and founding director of the CMU-Portugal Program, and has received multiple honors including honorary doctorates and Portuguese state decorations.
