Once again congratulations!

You guys are more than welcome to join the community, or for me a family. If I could turn back to when I first started, there would be so many changes and new habits to pick up. Here it is!

‍

Labs are not to be taken for granted.Β

‍

Just for a heads up, labs and assignments are not mandatory since we are in competency-based learning. You will have full control over your submission, learning pace, and choice of courses. But don’t let those freedoms sway you from not doing the work and waiting until the assessments. I have been there and done that. It turned out, I even messed up some of the assessments. Labs and assignments are pretty much similar to what I call "the mini-assessment"β€”but with feedback from your respective professors. Dear fellow juniors, labs and assignments are the way to go!

‍

Start working early!Β

I would recommend you do the work early. It is incredibly easy for the amount of work to accumulate if you don’t set a good work ethic at the beginning of the term. For me and many, the workload is a lot. There is a saying that goes, "Suffer now or later." Trust me, you don’t want to see yourself pull all-nighters before the final assessment submission.

‍

Eat well, sleep tight.Β

‍

From seeing my fellow classmates, it seems as though pulling an all-nighter and eating junk food are the norm. As much as I feel guilty having done and still do these practices, I would like for you to eat nutritious food and spare roughly 7-8 hours to sleep because health is important! Your body needs to rest and absorb enough nutrition to work. Don’t over-exhaust your body because you won’t be able to concentrate well. It is nothing short of a vicious circle - if you don’t take care of your health, you will feel weak, and your school performance will also go down.
